Total Request Live has been canceled after ten years, MTV confirmed on Monday. "We want to close this era of
TRL in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number," Dave Sirulnick, executive producer of
TRL told the
Associated Press. "This feels like the right time and let's celebrate it and let's reward it." He added "Let's let it have a little bit of a rest for a minute. Been working hard for 10 years!"
The music video show will wrap in a two-hour special on a Saturday in November.
TRL first debuted in September 1998. The show peaked in 1999 with 757,000 viewers tuning in daily, according to Nielsen Media Research, the
AP reported.
For the finale, expect to see
TRL favorites including former VJ Carson Daly. "Folks who helped make
TRL what is, whether that's Justin, and his guys in N' Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney, Eminem - I think we would love to see all of them here," Sirulnick told the
AP.
"I'm going to miss
TRL," rapper Eminem said in a statement. "Where else will I be able to start feuds, defend my honor vigorously and act like an angry teenager on national TV? Oh wait ... The VMAs!"

Trying to sweep Kate Hudson off her feet? Try taking her out for miniature golf – but whatever you do, don't be boring. The actress shared some of her best and worst dating moments Monday at a press conference for her new comedy,
My Best Friend's Girl, opening Sept. 19. "One date, I just left before we even ordered food because the guy was just so deeply boring that it was like, 'I'm going to just save us from all of this and just leave,' " said Kate, 29, adding that her date "was in banking. I'm not kidding."
Instead, the actress suggests other ways to get her motor running. "I like to be surprised [with] something fun or something different, like racing cars ... or miniature golf or something," Kate told
PEOPLE later at her film's premiere. "If you're going to go on a date, do it right, you know?"
Kate's romantic life has been star-studded – she was married to Chris Robinson and has been involved with Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong. But after a tough day on the job, the actress says it's her family (including son Ryder, 4) and friends that keep her grounded. "In order to deal with [everything], I just once again go back to my life at home with my family, my son and my friends," she said. "It makes everything okay. It makes everything feel more balanced."

New season, new studio, new bride and a brand new gig – as Ellen DeGeneres divulges on Tuesday's
The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "You know how I always like to share what's going on in my life with you all, and I was going to give you some news and, unfortunately, rumors started circulating all over the Internet," Ellen, 50, informs her audience about the something new in her life that will take effect in January – and is bound to have her glowing.
"I am here to set the record straight right now. I am not pregnant. It just turned out to be a bump. I went and had it checked out," she wisecracks. Then came the real announcement: "I am the new face of CoverGirl." Striking an exaggerated model-like pose, Ellen then explains, "That's the first thing they teach you when you're a CoverGirl."
With her commercials for the makeup giant due to be shot soon and then debut after the first of the year, Ellen says, "We were going to let you know [in January], but somehow people found out about it." Revealing a photo of herself being made camera-ready, Ellen says, "They're putting some lip liner on me ... Man, they love lip liner. I got hours and hours" Overall, Ellen admits, "I am very, very excited about it. It's a very cool thing, I'm honored and the photo shoot was 'easy, breezy, beautiful ... CoverGirl.' "
