You may recall that Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” proved to be a smashing success on American Idol early this year when it was performed by dreadlocked goon Jason Castro.Never one to leave any water in a well, Simon Cowell decided to turn “Hallelujah” into dollar signs for his British show The X Factor. Alexandra Burke, who was crowned the winner of the reality show contest, tearfully performed the tune after her triumph, and sees “Hallelujah” released in the U.K. this week as her debut single. She initially performed the Cohen classic as a duet* with BeyoncĂ© during the final round of the series, much as Leon Jackson teamed up with Kylie Minogue at the end of last year’s X Factor season. So, basically, X Factor + “Hallelujah” x Christmas = $ÂŁ$ÂŁ$ÂŁ$ÂŁ$!!Meanwhile, at a concert at London’s 02 Arena Saturday night, Elton John announced that he’d rather have his “cock bitten off by an…

Britney Spears is set to appear on the X Factor cementing her triumphant comeback after years battling psychiatric problems and substance addiction.
The star will be singing her new record Womaniser on the show later this month, because Simon Cowell is a fan.
He said: 'I'm really excited about it, because she has got her act together and the new record is terrific.

Oh, now, what a crying shame;
Girls Aloud were only, uh,
allowed one week atop the U.K. singles chart with "The Promise."
Awww. But at least worthy, revered rock legends the
X Factor Finalists were the ones to bump the Girls off, with their face-melting power jam "Hero."
Gosh, the guitar solo alone in that one gets me stiff. Plus, it's for a worthy cause; further ensuring
Simon Cowell will be raping "talent" for at least four more seasons.

Speaking of shit television at its finest, I actually kind of like
Leon Jackson's "Don't Call This Love"...so naturally it's a flop, falling to
#20 in its third week.
Meanwhile, have you heard this godawful new Bond theme from
Alicia Keys and
Jack White (
#10)?
Lily Allen barfing into a shopping cart probably has more melody. I'm just gonna call it "Another Way To Suck."

Kudos to
The Saturdays for hanging in there with "Up," which since its debut two weeks ago at #5, has only slid two positions to
#7.
Unfortunately the Saturdays' album
Chasing Cars—pretty superb for a debut, when it had the chance to be so, so bad—debuts this week on the Brit album chart at #11. Not that great, but maybe the single will hang in there and draw more attention to the full LP.
Yeah, and maybe I'll go thumb myself now.
The U.K. Top 10:
1. "Hero" - X Factor Finalists *1 week*2. "The Promise" - Girls Aloud3. "So What" - Pink
4. "Infinity 2008" - Guru Josh Project5. "Sex On Fire" - Kings Of Leon
6. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry7. "Up'" - The Saturdays8.
"Love Lockdown" - Kanye West
9. "Wire To Wire'" - Razorlight10. "Another Way To Die" - Alicia Keys & Jack White

Simon Cowell has split from girlfriend
Terri Seymour after 6 years together.
The X Factor supremo is said to be relieved that their romance has come to an end.
'Simon has basically been waiting for Terri to announce the relationship is over for months,' a friend reveals.
'She has been a weight around his neck for a long time but the problem was that his mother absolutely adored Terri and thought the world of her,so Simon was in a bit of a rut.'
The TV presenter, 34, shared 48-year-old Simon's Beverly Hills mansion but moved out into a luxury LA pad he bought for her this summer. She is now rumoured to be dating actor Stephen Dorff.
'She wanted kids with Simon desperately, but he wasn’t interested in starting a family or getting married,' the source tells The Mail On Sunday.
'All Simon cares about is being the richest, most successful man on the planet. Celebrity and money are all that he cares about.'

Rumors are flying that Paula Abdul doesn’t like new judge, Kara DioGuardi, so much. Also that Simon Cowell has been insinuating that Paula Abdul should talk less now.I honestly think, American Idol producers are poised to take out Paula Abdul really soon. It doesn’t make sense to have four judges. 3 judges should have sufficed, now with 4 judges in American Idol, they can quote a tie! Now how would that fare? Would one of the judges have more voting power? Now that wouldn’t seem fair now, would it?Anyway American Idol can settle that by themselves. For now it will be quite interesting to see how 4 judges will haggle in the next season.

Below are some of the more well-known songs co-written by Kara DioGuardi, the old cougar who’s joining American Idol’s eighth season as the fourth judge. This rich broad must’ve gotten bored burning her hundred dollar bills and decided to show up for some face time. Just call her C-Note.Wonder if they’re hauling her in because Paula Abdul is out of her gourd, and they’re thinking of replacing her eventually? That first video below is Kylie Minogue’s “Spinning Around,” from 2000. Ironically, one of the co-writers along with Kara on that one is none other than…Paula Abdul.Hopefully the ladies get into a catfight over royalties on air.

This pic really illustrates all of Shayne Ward’s talents…If you’re any normal, red-blooded Joe, once in awhile you just stop and ponder life’s mysteries — like why God invented Sudoku, or what the hell happened with the third single off Shayne Ward’s Breathless album.Late last year it was two U.K. Top 10 hits — double A-side “No U Hang Up/If That’s OK With You” and “Breathless” — then nothing. For awhile there the single-worthy “U Got Me So” was on the schedule for a release, but then it got held back and has apparently been scrapped. What…is Simon Cowell too busy with the five zillion shows he juggles worldwide to bother with further promotion of Shayne’s truly fantastic album? Was Louis Walsh too busy getting his A stuffed by some back-alley tough in a limo?Oh well. At least we’ll always have –Squeeze it, hooker!
