One of this fall's most perplexing singles has been Kevin Rudolf's "Let It Rock," which also features Lil Wayne and has gone on to chart at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 without anyone really knowing much about the singer.
It kind of reminds me of those type of one hit wonder jams that come along once or twice a decade; ones which are catchy, transcend the typical love or party subject matter and are ultimately a tad bit weird (in a good way)—a la The Shamen's "Move Any Mountain" or The New Radicals' "You Get What You Give."
Going to Rudolf's MySpace not only nearly crashed my computer, but didn't turn up any photos other than the single cover for "Let It Rock." However, A bit of digging reaveals that—like Ryan Tedder/OneRepublic—Kevin Rudolf was given his big break after meeting Timbaland, who had him play guitar on some of his productions (including Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right").
He's now singed to hip hop label Cash Money Records, and his album In The City—which he wrote and produced himself except for one song—is out November 25.
Anyway, here's the video for "Let It Rock," and also the one for The Shamen's 1991 hit "Move Any Mountain," which I think "Let It Rock" kind of sounds like a bit:
Check out Keri Hilson's next single where Timbaland "Returns the Favor" for her debut album, In a Perfect World... which is set to finally be released on December 9th... A very space age video.
Pop maestro Timbaland got married last night — to a woman — in Aruba. Timbland’s wife — again, a woman — is Monique Idlett, and the two apparently have a daughter together — from having man-and-woman-sex — who was born in November. Monique and Tim reportedly were hitched ghetto-style while wearing sweatpants at the beginning of the month in Virginia, before having the swank ceremony last night in Aruba. Sweats are pretty classy, even for Virginia. Trust me, the only way to have a trashier wedding would’ve been if they threw down in my Pennsylvania hometown, at Burger Hut II, as Maude the hostess took off her wooden leg and officiated the nuptials before pole-dancing on the deep fryer. *Sniff* Sorry…I always cry at weddings in burger joints.
Word on the curb is that Timbaland is set to marry his publicist fiance Monique Idlett of two years in Aruba June 19th. According to Life & Style Magazine, “Guests are being told to be prepared to fly to Aruba on that date.”Timbaland and Monique have a seven month old daughter together.
